Better Baby Care

Better Baby Care Indiana is a statewide initiative to promote the healthy development of babies, toddlers, and their families.

4C employs a full-time Infant and Toddler Specialist, Becky Trela. A graduate of the Program for Infants and Toddlers Institute and nationally recognized for her work with Continuity of Care, she is available to offer consultation services and resources to both child care providers and families on a variety of issues that impact healthy care and development for infants and toddlers. Through Better Baby Care, the Infant and Toddler Specialist delivers numerous training opportunities specifically created for child care providers and administrators, using resources from nationally recognized experts in the field, such as ZERO TO THREE and West Ed. Go to the Training webpage on this site to see a list of scheduled training or call 4C to request customized training.

Happy Baby

Another key component of 4C Better Baby Care activities is the availability of enhanced child care referrals for anyone seeking child care for a child under the age of three years old. An interview is conducted by phone, fax or email in order for a 4C Referral Specialist to understand the individual needs of the family seeking care. The Referral Specialist will then call providers who match the family’s criteria to verify openings. Once potential child care providers have been identified, the Referral Specialist will mail a list of referrals to the family, along with an interview check list and child age-specific literature on developmental milestones. All Better Baby Care referrals are also eligible to receive age-specific child development information quarterly.
